Sound Bath
A sound bath is a meditative experience in which participants rest while a facilitator plays resonant instruments such as gongs, singing bowls and chimes, using vibration and tone to guide the nervous system into deep relaxation.
How it works
Participants lie or sit comfortably for 45 to 90 minutes. The facilitator layers tones and rhythms that rise and settle, and the body responds to the vibration before conscious thought gets involved.
Many people describe deep relaxation, vivid inner imagery or a sense of mental clearing afterwards.
Who it's for
Anyone who finds silent meditation difficult, teams who need a reset in the middle of an intense program, and conference audiences who need to land after a long day.
What to know before you start
Very loud gongs are not recommended during early pregnancy or for people with epilepsy or sound sensitivity; let the facilitator know beforehand.
