Applied Improvisation & Play at Work
Play
The freedom to explore, imagine, and create beyond boundaries
The freedom to explore, imagine, and create beyond boundaries. Play is a state of openness that awakens curiosity, innovation, and resilience. It dissolves rigidity, unlocks hidden potentials, and reconnects us with the joy of discovery.
One of the most undervalued technologies in adult development. Recovers the capacity for improvisation, experimentation without judgment, and joyful collaboration. Leaders who can play are more creative, more resilient, and better at building trust.

Questions about Play
Why does play matter for adults at work?
Play builds creativity, resilience and trust, and research by Stuart Brown and others shows that adults who go without it pay a measurable cost in all three. Structured play lets teams experiment without fear of judgment, which is where new ideas come from.
What is applied improvisation?
Applied improvisation uses the principles of improv theatre (accepting offers, building on others' ideas, staying present) as training for collaboration, adaptability and communication. Exercises are short, low-stakes and translate directly to meetings and leadership.
What is LEGO Serious Play?
LEGO Serious Play is a facilitated method where participants build models of ideas, strategies or problems with LEGO bricks and then share the stories behind them. It gives every voice equal room and makes abstract topics concrete.
